Adoro essa autora! Na realidade eu já li essa série, e parte da outra ainda ano passado, mas como descobri que lançaram mais livros, eu decidi que leria todos novamente.

Pelo título da série, já deu para notar que o tema é shape-shifters, aqueles que podem mudar para uma forma animal. É muito interessante o mundo que a Shelly criou, todos os livros dela tem uma certa relação, e temos shifters de todos os tipos...

Pack Challenge é o primeiro, da primeira série, é com ele que somos apresentados a esse mundo.

Sara é uma mulher que mora numa cidadezinha do Texas, ela tem uma ferida na perna que a obriga a mancar desde que era criança, e tem uma baita cicatriz no rosto. Foi criada pela avó, que todos na cidade chamavam de demônio. Sua salvação são as amigas Miki e Angelina, que são completos opostos, mas se complementam. Lembrem-se que eu nunca disse que elas eram normais.
Sara conhece Zack quando ele aparece, com sua “gangue” de motoqueiros na oficina/loja que ela trabalha, e ela simplesmente não consegue tirar os olhos dele, além de ter reações muito fortes com sua presença *wink-wink*. Além disso, ela, quando bêbada na noite anterior, já tinha conhecido ele:

“This is my pretty man. Isn’t he great? I think I love him.” Miki rolled her eyes and lowered the bat, “You have got to be kidding me.” Angelina moved toward her friend, “Okay, honey, that’s the half-bottle of tequila talking. Now it’s time to let the ‘pretty man’ go.”

Mas Zack não é qualquer um, ele faz parte do Magnus Pack, e está ali para protegê-la, por quê? Porque ela era filha do Pack, e um bando de leões (Pride) está atrás dela por vingança. Mas ela não sabe nada disso.


Zack não quer saber de uma companheira (acho muito interessante o termo mate para falar de companheira, principalmente em histórias de shape-shifters, deixa a entender uma coisa mais forte do que namorada, esposa, é mais permanente), e muito menos que essa companheira seja Sara, já que ela e as amigas são loucas. Ele fica em negação por algum tempo, eu quero ela, não quero ela, etc.

If he took her tonight, he was going to keep her. He knew that as securely as he knew she was crazy. And he didn’t want a mate. He especially didn’t want her as a mate. His whole life would be spent trying to keep her pretty ass out of trouble.

Esse livro é divertidíssimo. Na realidade todos os livros da autora são super engraçados, se você não quer que te chamem de estranha por rir sozinha, leia longe de outras pessoas – aviso de amiga. E esse nem é o melhor livro da série.
O mais legal é que ele já apresenta os personagens para os próximos livros, as melhores amigas da Sara, Miki e Angelina. A história da Miki até já começa nesse mesmo livro, com o melhor amigo do Zack, Conall:

“Thanks. Name’s Conall.” It was like Sara and the other 300 people weren’t even there. Miki nodded, “Great.” It was in fact physically painful to watch Miki and Conall stand there, with absolutely no idea what to say next. “Well.” Miki glanced at Sara, but when her friend offered no assistance, she decided to make a break for it. “Bye.” Miki took her bottle of water and walked off.

A história fala muito mais da amizade, do que do romance, apesar de o romance ser bem quente também. Mas parece que o romance acontece muito rápido.

Os personagens são completamente fora da casinha, loucos, lélé da cuca, mas eu acho que é isso que faz da história tão interessante. As mulheres então, são muito phodas (desculpa o linguajar, mas não tem outro modo de descrevê-las), elas estão em todas as cenas de pancadaria que tem. Definitivamente não são donzelas indefesas esperando pelo príncipe encantado. E realmente metem medo.

O livro é ótimo, super divertido e com maravilhosas cenas hot.

Infelizmente são livros bem difíceis de encontrar. Em português, da autora que eu saiba só existem 2, e nem são dessa série exatamente, apesar de fazerem parte do mesmo mundo e ter conexões. E mesmo e-books em inglês são raros, agradeço a uma amiga por ter me enviado todos os livros da Shelly. E não sei dizer se os grupos de traduções e revisões já traduziram algum destes...

Mas mesmo assim, recomendo! Vale muito a pena ler esse livro, nem que seja só para poder entender o livro da Miki, que é ainda mais divertido.

Algumas cenas, só para dar o gostinho... daria para separar o livro inteiro, foi difícil escolher essas cenas, entre tantas maravilhosas, não vou traduzir, tenho preguiça, mas se alguém pedir, posso fazer uma tradução...

“‘Drug money, I assume?’” Angelina ground out between clenched teeth. Miki looked at her friends, “I was just asking.” “Well don’t! Don’t ask. Don’t query. Don’t question.” Angelina moved toward the door, then spun around to look at Miki. “And try not to get the shit kicked out of us by biker chicks. Think you can handle that?”

She screamed in frustration and kept screaming. Zach brought his other hand up to cover her mouth, but Sara saw it coming. She grabbed his arm, wrapped her mouth around his flesh, and bit down. She heard him grunt in pain but that was all. She bit harder but still he made no sound. Now she was getting pissed. She wanted to hear him scream. That’s when she felt it—her canine teeth grew. Just like that. The other teeth in her mouth re-adjusted to accommodate their new length as they easily sank deep into his flesh. Zach pulled her tight against him and he buried his head into her hair. “I hate to tell you this,” he muttered, his voice thick in what Sara assumed was pain. “But we consider what you’re doing foreplay. You’re making my dick hard.”

These crazy women would always be her best friends. Besides, you never get rid of friends like these. They follow you to hell so they can torture you for eternity.
